Terra Listens lets you stream live nature and birdsong audio and view automatic bird identifications powered by BirdNET AI from Cornell University. This Privacy Policy explains what limited information we collect, how it is used, and how we protect your privacy.

We collect only the minimum data necessary to operate the service.

a. Automatic Data (when using the app without signing in):

• IP Address and Web Logs: When your Apple TV communicates with our web API, our servers automatically receive and temporarily log your device’s IP address, request time, and standard HTTP headers.

• Diagnostic Information: Basic analytics such as connection success/failure, latency, and playback errors may be recorded to help maintain reliable performance.

b. Optional Account Data (when you sign in):

If you choose to sign in with your Terra account, we receive your account ID solely to authenticate your access and display bird identification data associated with your devices.

We do not collect or store your password; authentication is handled securely via our web service.

We do not collect precise location, contact, or payment information through the Apple TV app.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information only to:

• Provide audio and identification data from your Terra devices
• Maintain reliable server operation and detect service issues
• Improve app performance and user experience in aggregate form

We do not sell, rent, or share your data for advertising or marketing.

4. Data Retention

Server logs (including IP addresses) are retained for a limited period necessary for troubleshooting and performance monitoring, typically no more than 30 days, and then automatically deleted or anonymized.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmissions between your Apple TV and our API. Access to logs is restricted to authorized personnel for maintenance and support only.

6. Your Choices

• You can use the app without signing in; no personal account data is collected.
• If you sign in, you may sign out at any time to stop data association with your account.
• You can request deletion of your Terra account or related data by contacting support@terra.zohodesk.com.

7. Children’s Privacy

Terra Listens is intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently done so, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
